Monday is President’s Day!  Can you believe it?  February is already more than half way over.  Spring will be knocking on our door.  Lent, St. Patrick’s Day and then Easter!  Time is flying by.

To celebrate President’s Day, we are giving away a Free Cherry Lunch Pie with every $15.00 purchase!  Stop in and pick up dinner and take home a free cherry lunch pie!  We have Pierogi, Ravioli, Pizza and Pepperoni Rolls.  Every one of these will make a delicious and easy dinner tonight!

Our Pierogi are available in four varieties: Potato and Cheese, Potato, Cheese & Jalapeno, Sauerkraut, or Prune.  Our Pierogi come frozen, in one dozen packages ready for you to take home.  Simply place in boiling water for 5 to 7 minutes and dinner is complete.

Our Ravioli are available in three varieties: Meat and Spinach, Cheese or Mushroom.  Our Ravioli come frozen, in two dozen packages.  Simply place in boiling water for 5 to 7 minutes and dinner is ready.  Pair our ravioli with your favorite sauce, a loaf of our fresh bread and a good bottle of wine!  You will have a dinner better than you could buy at any restaurant for half the price!

Did you know that President Abraham Lincoln loves Oysters and Apple Pie?  Also, he was a fan of fresh fruit and cheese! President George Washington was indeed fond of Cherry Pie, but also enjoyed Hoe Cakes, Steak and Kidney Pie, Fish Muddle and Martha’s Whiskey Cake!

Woo Hoo!  Punxsutawney Phil has given us the spirit of an early Spring!  I say spirit because I think this feeling of an early spring is primarily in our spirits! This weekend we saw snow and supposedly, the Mon Valley is in for a blast again today.  But, as I write this, the sun is shining and indeed…it does look like Spring may be right around the corner!

This week, we are building up to Mardi Gras next Tuesday!  Are you someplace where Mardi Gras or Carnival is celebrated?  If so, catch some beads for me!  I LOVE parades, especially ones where they throw things.  Although, I hear that for St. Patrick’s Day in New Orleans, they throw cabbages!  So you really need to be paying attention!  Cabbages hurt!

We will have our FAMOUS Paczki Donuts Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week.  We make these plain or filled with raspberry, apple, apricot, prune, strawberry or cream.  Paczki are made with a richer dough than regular donuts and these truly do melt in your mouth.  For the history of Paczki go to: http://cleveland.about.com/od/northeastohiofoods/p/paczki.htm

Friday and Saturday we will have our delicious King Cakes in the stores.  These are coffee cakes is filled with walnuts, apricots or a traditional cheese filling and are colored with purple, yellow and green sugars representing the colors of Mardi Gras. History of King Cakes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_cake  We will have King Cakes, Friday and Saturday and again on Monday and Tuesday.  Be the first to buy the office a King Cake on Friday because whoever gets the baby, must buy the next one!  This means, King Cakes in the office; Friday, Monday and Tuesday!  Start a tradition!

It’s January and it’s Monday!  It is cold and dreary today, making it hard to get started this morning!  Here in the Mon Valley this week, it will be a cold one!  But, what should we expect during January?  The 50+ degrees that we had last week or the single digits that we will have tonight!  We shouldn’t be surprised with our single digits!  Look on the bright side…January is almost over, then we have just one month until SPRING!!!  Yes, I said Spring!  I’m looking forward! Although, I do predict a large snow storm on February 15th!  More about that later!

Today, we have Cream Puffs, Eclairs and Orange Twist Donuts!  Cream Puffs and Eclairs are so much better in cold weather!  The dough stays light and crisp against the cold creamy filling.  Our Orange Twist Donuts are very light with just a hint of orange! Very nice with a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

Paczki Donuts arrive on Thursday!!!  Soooo delicious and only available for a short time!  We will have them Thursday through Saturdays starting January 24th.  Fat Tuesday, February 11th, will be the last day that they are available until next year!  Order early to ensure that we have your favorite flavors available!  We offer Paczki come plain or filled with raspberry, apple, apricot, prune, strawberry or cream.  They are so much more than a donut!

Merry Christmas!  There are just a few short days left until Christmas!  Our last day for placing Christmas orders is Friday, December 21st at Noon.  Please call as soon as possible to place a Holiday order.  There will be plenty of treats available in our stores, but if you want to be absolutely sure that you can get your holiday favorites, place an order.

Have you tried our Fruitcake?  It is delicious!  I know fruitcake gets a bad rap and the jokes abound, but seriously, ours is very good and of course every bit is edible!  Our recipe is so good, one try and you will wonder why you haven’t been having it all of these years.

We have wonderful French Pastries in our stores today.  Such beautiful, perfect treats!

December is almost here!  The holiday season will be upon us very soon! The bakery will have Traditional Holiday Rolls with Apricot, Nut, Poppy Seed or Lekvar fillings.  We have Pascha Bread, plain or with raisins, plenty of fresh rolls and buns, decorated cakes and of course, fresh bread!  Place your orders early and we will have it waiting for you.

We make beautiful Holiday Cookie Trays!  You can customize these if you wish, with exactly the cookies that you would like to have on the tray.  These are great for office parties or a family get together. Have you been invited to a cookie swap and don’t really bake? Call us!  We can make you something wonderful to take.

Holiday Potluck?  We have you covered!  You can bring bread, dessert, or how about some of our delicious pierogi or ravioli? We have our pierogi frozen in one dozen packages and our ravioli come in two dozen packages.  They are very easy to prepare and sooooo delicious!  I guarantee that you will not be bringing any home!

Woo Hoo Friday is here!  How many of you are on vacation all next week? If not, many of us at least have a long weekend coming. Do you make Thanksgiving Dinner?  Perhaps you go to many of the brunches offered or if you are lucky, your Mom is making your dinner!  Whatever the choice, be thankful that we are here, enjoying a delicious meal!

Today, we have our wonderful German Chocolate Cake!   Our German Chocolate is so pretty and just as delicious!  It is a wonderfully moist, not too sweet, chocolate cake!  When you look at the icing, you might think, oooooh, way too sweet.  But I promise you, this is not true!  It is simply amazing.

Thanksgiving is coming like a locomotive! I can’t believe that next week is Turkey Day!  We have pumpkin pies daily, but be sure to order early for next week!

Friday and Saturday we will have our Famous Holiday Rolls!  Apricot, Nut and Poppy Seed, will be available!  Our rolls are so good and really are as good as homemade!  And in my case, better than my homemade!  There is something about rolling up dough with filling inside that eludes me!  I feel like Charlie Brown because I always end up with a BIG mess!

Tomorrow is November 1st!  Can you believe it?  Thanksgiving will be here before we know it! We have some favorites coming back with November!  Our Neapolitan Bar and Butterscotch Pie will be featured tomorrow!  Yum!  Our sugar cookies will turn into turkeys tomorrow as well!

New to our bakery are our new Princess Cakes!  We have Cinderella and Tinkerbell.  They are so cute and perfect for a little girl or big girl princess birthday.  Feeding a crowd?  Our decorators can put  these perfect small cakes as a cake topper on a large 10″ Round Cake.  How perfect for your princess!

It appears that Indian Summer is here this week!  Go outside and enjoy some wonderfully warm and golden weather this week!

We have everything fall this week!  Many, many Halloween themed treats grace our shelves, along with many varieties of pumpkin flavored items.  We have Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Chiffon Cake, Pumpkin Caramel Iced Cookies, and Pumpkin Cream Cheese Rolls!

In denial about fall?  We still have our most delicious, Fudge Bar Cakes, Egg Custard Pies, Coconut Cream Pies and our heavenly Toasted Almond Cream Cake! 

Don’t forget about the bread!  We will have Whole Wheat, German Bauern, Bohemian Rye, Veggie Garden, and English Muffin Bread, just to name a few!
